Let's not speak ill of the almost dead. - AKA pre burial hagiography.
Premier John Brumby echoed Mr Shorten’s sentiments, describing Mr Pratt – the owner of carboard giant Visy – as a “great Australian success story” and a “very generous” man.
“I’ve always got on well with Dick,” Mr Brumby said.
“I’ve strongly defended Dick Pratt as a great Victorian and a great Australian.”
Members of the Carlton Football Club say their thoughts go out to the family of the club’s former president, Richard Pratt.
The 75-year-old, who has been suffering from prostate cancer, is resting at his Melbourne home Raheen.
He faces four charges of giving false or misleading evidence to the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) at a hearing in 2005.
Mr Pratt has been married to Jeanne Pratt for 47 years, with the couple currently living in Raheen, their Kew mansion. The couple have three adult children.
He also has a daughter with his former mistress, Sydney socialite Shari-Lea Hitchcock.
Gotta love the Dickster's traditional family and business values. Believe it folks, after all John and Bill believe it.
